Munch is referring here to a review of the Autumn Exhibition in Aftenposten 22.10.1886. In the review a portrait of Inger, Inger Munch in Black, is called “his hideous ‘Louise Michel’”. Louise Michel (1830-1905) was a French anarchist and revolutionary.
